Tohu Mugwi Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2013
Softly textured wit hint of vanilla. This is an excellent oak aged style of sauvignon blanc. The delicate flavours and textures are enhanced with dry riverstone mineral characters rather than crisp acidity. This is a hugely complex, multi-layered wine and makes beautiful drinking.
Release notes tell us “Our reserve wines are each named in honour of a Kaumatua (elder) of the Maori owners of Tohu Wines” “Mugwi Macdonald was revered within Wakatu, he was a man of great mana. This wine commemorates Mugwi and remembers him for his humility, selflessness and wisdom”
I think this wine reflects that memory perfectly, rather than being big and bold it is subtle, complex and powerful.
