This is an exceptional sparkling wine crafted by Daniel Le Brun, the undoubted master of sparkling wine production in New Zealand. Each year a small amount of this Blanc de Blanc (100% Chardonnay) is set aside for long-term aging on lees (5 1/2 years) and released as a ‘Reserve’ wine.
The extra age has given the wine time to develop a wonderful richness on the palate with a bright freshness from the beautifully balanced acidity. The lees contact has delivered a lovely toasted brioche character that supports ripe background stone fruit flavours. The persistent mousse carries keenly focused, crisp, tongue-tingling citrus in the very long finish and simply rounds out a delicious taste experience.
Simply an exceptional example of aged Blanc de Blanc and as fine as any Champagne.
